I went to my first Barcamp at the weekend and it was really good - 150 people “geeking it up” for two days solid.
Some of the presentations I attended were:
- Google Android
- Hello Locomatrix
- Test-driven development for text adventures
- Code-a-long-a Genetic Algorithm
- Stop Making Websites!
- Electronic Drum Kit Jam
- Twitter Bots
- Cloud Computing
- Everything I know about American history I learnt from a computer game
- D.I.Y. writing for the web
- High-performance scalable web apps with memcached
- Stuff:Stuctured:Simply
It was all pretty varied and overall I thought the quality of the talks were very high.
The subject that I decided to talk on was the GeoKit mapping plugin for rails, and I have now put the intro slides for that talk online - check them out!. There are also slides available for a couple of the other talks.
