Barcamp Brighton & Geokit

I went to my first Barcamp at the weekend and it was really good - 150 people “geeking it up” for two days solid.

Some of the presentations I attended were:

  • Google Android
  • Hello Locomatrix
  • Test-driven development for text adventures
  • Code-a-long-a Genetic Algorithm
  • Stop Making Websites!
  • Electronic Drum Kit Jam
  • Twitter Bots
  • Cloud Computing
  • Everything I know about American history I learnt from a computer game
  • D.I.Y. writing for the web
  • High-performance scalable web apps with memcached
  • Stuff:Stuctured:Simply

It was all pretty varied and overall I thought the quality of the talks were very high.

The subject that I decided to talk on was the GeoKit mapping plugin for rails, and I have now put the intro slides for that talk online - check them out!. There are also slides available for a couple of the other talks.
